OVERVIEW

Fortress Building Products is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Accounting team. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for the data entry of payable invoices and the distribution of payable checks. This position will assist in the audit and reconciliation of payable aging reports and all other vendor finance needs. Additionally, the Accounts Payable Specialist will provide overall accounting support as needed.

This is a contract position with an immediate need. While this role is currently designated as a temporary, there may be an opportunity for temp-to-hire conversion based on performance and business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Accounts Payable Processing: Invoice data entry, filing invoices and check stubs, prepare checks and maintain check register, monitor and manage AP email inbox, send invoices to iPayables, mail checks, ensure timely entry of recurring bills. Trade Payables system; processing and reconciling supplier invoices.
  • Vendor Management: Vendor maintenance (agreements, reconciliations, aging reports, new vendor setup), vendor communication, manage and respond to payment status questions, manage W9 requests.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting: Credit card and bi-weekly AP aging report reconciliation.
  • Financial Administration: 1099 processing, correcting journal entries, audit assistance, research, special projects.
  • General Administrative Support: Maintain general files and conduct annual file audits, assist in other areas of accounting, complete administrative duties as assigned by the Accounts Payable Manager.

Education/Experience/Additional Requirements

  • Associates degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in office bookkeeping or Accounting
  • Experience with Accounts Payable a must and experience with Accounts Receivables a plus
  • Strong data entry skills with demonstrated accuracy and efficiency a must
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail are critical
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under time constraints, prioritize effectively, and proactively approach tasks
  • Must be able to work independently in a multi-task environment as well as part of a team
  • Proactive, self-starter who is eager to learn
  • Knowledge of GL codes
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and advanced spreadsheet experience
  • Great Plains experience a plus
